Red Bordeaux - 1960 Vintage
Red Bordeaux - 1961 Vintage - a giant of a vintage!
Chateau Gruaud Larose, 1961 - Robert Parker 96 points (Oct 1994), "This is claret at its most decadent" - all have ok wine colour.
Chateau Latour, 1961. Robert Parker 100 points!
"Port like with an unctuous texture and a dark garnet colour with considerable amber at the edge, the 1961 Latour possesses a viscosity and thickness approached only by vintages such as 1982 and 1959. Two tried were liquid perfection, exhibiting fragrant, cedary, truffle, leather, mineral, and sweet jammy aromatics, full-bodied, voluptuous textures, exquisite purity and concentration, and a layered, highly nuanced finish that represents the essence of compellingly great wine. The 1961 has been fully mature for than 15 years, but, much like the 1982, it seems to get richer, holding on to its succulence and fat and developing more aromatic nuances without losing any sweetness or concentration. An extraordinary wine, it is unquestionably one of the Bordeaux legends of the century!
Anticipated maturity now-2025."
At its best, the 1961 is a great Mouton. Robert Parker 98 points.
Most bottles have original numbered labels in various conditions as listed.

A competent effort from Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou
Chateau Gruaud Larose made an excellent wine in 1966
Chateau Latour, 1966, Robert Parker 96 points "The wine of the vintage...classic".
All the dust engrained labels on the Latour bottles are completely readable and nicely mature looking.
All these Moutons having been held by us for some time in their original wood cases are now being offered individually to satisfy interest from imbibers and collectors. There are no visible signs of any seepage, thus indicating they might have been short filled when bottled.
Chateau Mouton Rothschild, a classic example of the vintage, in my opinion the best ever label design by Pierre Alechinsky.
